Undergraduate programmes
The International Foundation Year is a route to an undergraduate degree at Cardiff University. Choose from a number of subject routes while practising your English, and prepare to make a confident start to your degree.
Postgraduate programmes
Our Pre-Master's programme helps students get ready for postgraduate study at Cardiff University, with a combination of English language tuition and content from their chosen subject route.

Academic entry requirements: Medicine and Dental Surgery degrees require Chemistry and two other sciences for entry. All other degree aims require one science from Biology, Chemistry or a combined science.
English entry requirements: For the degree aim of Medicine, Dental Surgery, Medical Pharmacology, Optometry and Pharmacy, the requirement is Academic IELTS for UKVI or equivalent level 6.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and no other skill lower than 5.5).
For the following degree aims, a competitive selection process will apply: Medicine, Dental Surgery, Medical Pharmacology, Optometry and Pharmacy.
Students who are unsuccessful following the selection process can opt for an alternative degree on Life Sciences route, providing they achieve the required grades.

For Forensic Linguistics and Applied Linguistics – First degree or diploma in English Language or Linguistics
For Education, Social and Public Policy and Social Science – First degree or diploma in relevant subject area
Journalism related degrees – First degree or diploma in related arts, humanities or social science disciplines
Computer Science
For Computing and Computing and IT Management – First degree or diploma in any discipline other than Computing
For Software Engineering – First degree or diploma in either a STEM subject with evidence of programming or non-STEM with evidence of suitable programming experience.
